Jess Peterson and his Dad Lyle are offering this beautiful set of Fall Calving Angus Cows. They’re preg tested to start calving September 25 for 60 days with the majority calving in the first cycle. These cows are all but 5 home raised for their spring calving program but these cows were off in a separate pasture and both Bulls with them ended up going bad. The problem had nothing to do with the cows themselves because 41 out of 43 bred up when preg checked on April 17. The cows received a Lutalyce shot on December 10 and different bulls turned in on December 15.
Jess and Lyle take a lot of pride in their program and select sires and females for moderation across the board and never pushing too far in any single trait. This mixed age group will ensure that you won’t have to replace the whole group of cows at once in years to come. Cows are all moderately sized, long bodied and will produce a quality calf to hit the grass fever market. Sires from Sitz and Redland Angus are selected for calving ease, growth and maternal milking ability. Notably Redland FrontMan and Redland GameDay.
21 of these cows are aged 3-4 Years Old,
13 being 5-7 YO
only 7 being 8-10 YO.
These cows have been running on regrowth hay meadows and have only been fed hay during the past three months during the worst of this winter weather. The Petersons do a tremendous job as a reputation outfit and will hate to see these cows go!
